Marion D. Shanahan, 1945-2003, Barnett

Marion Dwight Shanahan, 58, also known as "Dave" or "Ike," of Barnett, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at his home.

He was born Feb. 3, 1945, in Kansas City, a son of Marion T. Calhoon and Hazel Marie Wheeler Shanahan. On Jan. 14, 2001, in Eureka Springs, he married Denise Marocchi, who survives of the home.

Mr. Shanahan was employed in automobile wholesale sales and social service.

Survivors also include three sons, John Michael Shanahan, of Oak Grove, and Zachariah Shanahan and Jason Shanahan, both of Blue Springs; three stepsons, Michael Gioia, Anthony Gioia and Erick Gioia, all of St. Louis; a stepdaughter, Andrea Gioia, of Barnett; a brother, Elwood Shanahan, of Greenwood; a sister, Elaine Fisher, of Fortuna; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Eula Belle Rooks.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with the Rev. Danny Owsley officiating.

The family will receives friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Diabetes Foundation.
